Established in 1921, the Douglass Theatre hosted early jazz and blues greats such as Otis Redding, Bessie Smith, James Brown, Ma Rainey and Little Richard while running popular feature length films and serials.
Now completely renovated, the Douglass Theatre hosts a variety of events including film presentations and educational performances created by local children. True to its historic reputation as a magnet for the entire community, “The Douglass” draws widely-varied audiences for its 35mm 3D, digital, limited run and premier films as well as for its world-class performance events.
